Dosa Pizza and Pizza

I am one heck lover of pizzas. I love them so much that I want to have at least a slice everyday. Hmmm really? Everyday? So I wanted to do something to satisfy this delicious craze I have. As South Indians, we have dosa and idli frequently or almost every day and the batter is always available. Hence, one day I made an attempt to make pizza from dosa. Added the toppings, grated cheese and seasoning. And then what, Yummy! I have not much words to express how much I love pizzas. I also agree that no alternative can match the taste of the Italian pizzas, they are wonderful. I also realized that freshly made pizzas are actually healthy as they only have thick flattened bread like ‘roti’ and toppings with mixed vegetables and cheese and they also add slices or meat or fish, as per individial choices, just like we have roti and sabzi or poriyal in India. Just how dosa batter is left overnight at room temperature for fermentation for healthy reasons, yeast is added to make pizza doughs and left for hours not only to double in size but also ferment a little bit. This natural fermentation makes dosa and pizza more nutritious. Well, I am not a nutritionist, however, I know at least ย the basics :-D. ย Yeast is a very good source vitamin B6, magnesium and potassium. It also has carbohydrates and vitamin B12. Okay not waiting anymore and let’s cook my favourite dosa pizza.

My favourite dosa pizza ๐Ÿ˜€
Dosa pizza ingredients
Gather the ingredients for dosa pizza. All you need is dosa batter, capsicum, carrot, tomato, onion and cheese slices. For seasoning and taste you need tomato ketchup, garlic, pepper, salt and oil for cooking.
Step 2 Prep Ingredients
Sliced 3/4th portion of capsicum and onions and finely chopped 1/4th remaining portion. Finely chopped tomato and garlic. Peeled and washed the carrot, further peeled to get thin scaly portions and then chopped them to small sizes. Combined black peppercorns and salt and crushed them and we have salt pepper seasoning ready. Now ahead for cooking.
Step 3 Pour dosa
The dosa should be thick enough to withstand the vegetables and cheese and easy to slice and serve. Once the griddle is hot reduce the flame to simmer and then pour batter and make thick dosa. Add oil around the corner.
Step 4 Sauce and Garlic
Spread tomato ketchup and sprinkle finely chopped garlic.
Step 5 Onions
Add onions evenly.
Step 6 Capsicum
Added sliced capsicum.
Step 7 Carrots
Thin peeled and chopped carrot.
Step 8 Tomatoes and Seasoning
Added finely chopped tomato and seasoned with salt pepper powder.
Step 9 Cheese Slices
Covered the toppings with cheese slices and added salt pepper powder. You can sure add grated cheese instead of slices. I added slices because I wanted a thick layer of cheese on the top.
Step 10 Close to cook
Close the lid and let it cook at least for 7 minutes in low flame. Remember that the flame was low since the beginning.
Step 11 Cheesy Dosa Pizza Ready
Okay! Ready ๐Ÿ˜€
Step 12 Dosa Pizza Served
Sliced and served hot. My craving for pizza is satisfied. Tasted good ๐Ÿ™‚

16 Dosa Pizza Slices
I must say that it tasted similar to the dough pizza but not exact. Different ingredients give different taste.
17 Dosa Pizza Slice
Please try it and let me know what you loved about this recipe.

You can make dosa pizza better:

  • by adding oregano seasoning
  • grated cheese
  • use olive oil instead
  • grate carrot instead of peeling.

I am sure you loved this recipe. Definitely try this recipe as it is simple and easy. Thank you so much for stopping by. Come back for more and have a wonderful day ๐Ÿ˜€
